Steelers Patriots Pick
New England Patriots +4.5 Over Pittsburgh Steelers
Last week Patriots fans tuned in to the game expecting to see a blowout. They got a blowout but it wasn't the one they thought it would be. The Browns manhandled the Patriots last weekend in what seemed to be a trap game for the talented squad. This week they will be facing off against the 6-2 Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.
On offense the Patriots are fairly one dimensional, but that doesn't stop them from scoring. Led by All-Pro QB Tom "Bieber" Brady they have one of the best passing attacks in the league. The other key player in that passing attack is Wes Welker who has looked great this year after having his knee destroyed near the end of last season.
Pittsburgh's offense led by QB Ben Roethlisberger is much more balanced than their New England counterparts. Running the ball for them has been easy with a talent like Rashard Mendenhall in the backfield. Expectedly this year after trading away arguably their best receiver in Santonio Holmes the Pittsburgh passing attack hasn't been as well as we are accustomed to seeing.
Defensively the Patriots are going through a bit of a transition period. They've gotten rid of most if not all of the defensive stars who were there for the Super Bowls and now they are building up new young talents like Jerod Mayo.
This is their bread and butter, the Steelers have always been known as a defensive team, and that is no different this year. Rush Linebacker LaMarr Woodley is probably the second best young LB in the league, next to Clay Matthews. The Steelers can do everything on defense, though the loss of Aaron Smith on the line hurts them.
My Take: This will be a close game where either team could win it, I think Pittsburgh takes it with a last minute field goal.
