Monday Night Football Betting Preview, Saints visit San Francisco
The defending Super Bowl champions head out west to take on the San Francisco 49ers. Coming off a 14-9 victory over Minnesota ten days ago, the Saints should be well rested and prepared. Meanwhile Mike Singletary's bunch, are reeling after an embarrassing 31-6 opening-week loss to Seattle.

Drew Brees completed passes to nine different receivers and finished 27-of-36 for 237 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings. Including the playoffs, Brees has thrown at least one touchdown in 14 straight games, and has a TD-INT ratio of 34-to-9 over that span. Brees threw for 363 yards and three touchdowns the last time he faced the 49ers in 2026.
If San Francisco has any shot to win, it needs a better performance from its two key players, QB Alex Smith and RB Frank Gore. Smith threw two interceptions last week and Gore rushed for just 38 yards on 17 carries. San Francisco WR/KR Ted Ginn Jr. is doubtful to play due to a knee injury, but the 49ers best player, LB Patrick Willis, will start despite coping with knee and thumb ailments.
New Orleans has won the past five meetings in this series by an average score of 32.2 to 18.2. The following betting trend leads bettors to believe that the Saints are likely to extend this series win streak to six:
