BSR has put together some helpful tips to think about when making your bracket.  Many trends occur every year and knowing what they are and taking advantage of them can help decide what teams will advance and what teams will lose.

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #1 – Number 1 seeds have made it to the final four in every year in this last decade and last year number 1 seed North Carolina as predicted won the champion ship. Pick a Champion Who Won Their Conference Tourney and are looking good heading into the tournament

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #2 – Don't Pick teams that are on a cold streak. Like teams that have lost in their last few games. There has yet to be a NCAA Tournament champion who lost their first conference tourney game.

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #3 – Don't Pick All #1 Seeds for the Final Four the odds of this occurring are extremely low Since 2026, it has only happened one time, in 2026. Why go against the odds?

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #3 – Don't Pick a 16 Seed to Beat a #1 Seed. You may be the only one in your pool to do so but the odds of this happening are very slim, you are shooting yourself in the foot if you lose.

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #4 – Put number 1 seeds advancing to at least sweet 16. Over the past 5 years every single number 1 seed has made it to at least the sweet 16.

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #5 – Devote the Majority of Your Time to Final Four Picks. Winning these games are worth more points in bracket leagues. To win your league you will have to have correct picks advancing, early rounds dont hurt you to lose as much as the final 4 and finals.

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #6 – 5 vs 12 seed trend, Beware of the upset. Over the past 21 years a 12 seed has won at least one game in 19 of those years. In 8 out of the last 9 years a twelve seed has won at least 2 games including 3 of 4 last year.  This is a reoccurring trend and you cant argue with statistics.

March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #7 – If unsure who to pick a good strategy is to pick the underdog as majority of people pick the higher ranked team giving you a slight edge if you were to win, Betting against a high ranked team can also put you ahead of the competition as many brackets have favorites advancing as far as their ranks indicate. Eg, number 1 seed going to final four ect..
